Your Life. Your Path. Your Story
Hi, I'm Nancy! I am a sports doc, mom, wife, volunteer, and friend. My career goal is to help people stay active for life using non-surgical options. One of those is fitness. Fitness is the true fountain of youth and I love moving especially outdoors. I especially like moving with friends!
My tennis partner Christi would rave about these hikes with her friends. I thought it was her close friends and wished I could join and eventually asked if I could. That was in 2020 right in the middle of the pandemic. I NEEDED to be outdoors, moving and breathing in the fresh air. I needed people. I found that with W.O.M.E.N.
These ladies come from different areas in the San Francisco Bay Area, bringing different insights, experiences, careers, and ideas to the group. I’ve always had great conversations with these ladies!! Plus I love seeing sights and moving up and down hills.
I don’t like to cook so it’s always nice to have someone prepare a meal for me especially when it’s food created by hand with love. Lots of veggies and soup! I love this upscale picnic idea!
My favorite part of belonging to this group is meeting new friends who love nature as I do. Raquel is our fearless leader who seeks our awesome vistas and trails for us. She has such spunk and character. I’m glad she is now my friend!
When I started hiking with these ladies I was severely depressed. I so appreciated having an event to look forward to and having women to talk to. Hiking was part of my healing.
Nancy's tip to you:
There are some things that make hiking easier and safer. Carrying my water on my back is much better ergonomically than carrying a separate bottle in hand. Plus my CamelBak can carry an extra phone battery, snacks, sunscreen, or other goodies. It’s really important to invest in hiking shoes or boots. Hiking poles are a good idea too for uneven terrain.
Nancy fills in the blank:
I would never go on a hike without bringing my CamelBak. It’s slim but fits what I need and is a comfortable way to carry all the water I need.
Connecting with w.o.m.e.n outdoors means an opportunity to breathe fresh air, see and appreciate the beauty up, down, and all around plus engaging with other interesting women who share the mission of staying active no matter what your age!
Spending time outdoors with other women has allowed me to explore my local hiking options in a comfortable and fun group of friendly ladies to fulfill my need for exploration and joy!
From Raquel,
Thank you for bringing your strength to our tribe. No tall mountain or tough climb is too hard for you :) You take each hike, each step, as a reward for life. There are no complaints. With a smile, you push faster and are happy to do so, always ready for more challenges. I appreciate all your sharing and medical knowledge about staying fit, active, and healthy for life. Your easygoing attitude towards the movement inspires us all. Thank you for being such a wonderful woman. Thanks for your smiles. Let's keep moving! Let's keep exploring, connecting, and feeling the benefits of the outdoors in and out.
